Please join Friends on Thursday, July 30th from 3:30pm-4:30pm ET for a special Fireside Chat on Race and Justice.
Our speakers will explore the state of race relations in our country, with particular focus on how communities of color are responding to the dual pandemics of COVID-19 and racism – and what a multiracial, multi-generational community of public servants working across sectors can do in our daily fights for equity and justice.
Regardless of who we are, how might we best support one another and the most marginalized among us?
Our featured speaker is Secretary John B. King, Jr. (NJ 95)

Dr. King is President and CEO of The Education Trust. He served as the 10th United States Secretary of Education from 2016 to 2017. Immediately before he assumed leadership of the Department, he served as its Acting Deputy Secretary, and from 2011 to 2014 he was the New York State Education Commissioner.
Moderating the discussion with Secretary King will be Shyheim Snead (CT 17).

Shyheim is an Associate on the My Brother's Keeper (MBK) Alliance team at the Obama Foundation. Daily, he plays a key role in managing the Foundation’s inaugural grant program, the MBK Alliance Community Challenge Competition.
