A Conversation on American Radicalism, Political Violence, and National Security
Please join Friends of the Truman Foundation and the University of Chicago Project on Security & Threats (CPOST) for a special conversation now 90 days after the Capitol insurrection to explore CPOST’s newest and most exhaustive findings surrounding political violence and domestic terrorism in the US.
CPOST will share yet-unpublished findings based on surveys, data, court records, and the work of 40 researchers. According to the research, political violence in America is growing at an alarming rate and congealing into a mass movement with violence at its core, which has implications for the 2022 midterm elections.
The panelists will discuss the importance of understanding underlying political, social, and economic dynamics that are radicalizing Americans. Truman Foundation Executive Secretary Terry Babcock-Lumish is convening the discussion.
Confirmed panelists include:
- Secretary Jeh Johnson, former Secretary of Homeland Security
- Professor Robert A. Pape (PA 80), Director of Chicago Project on Security & Threats (CPOST)
- Professor Robert D. Putnam, Malkin Research Professor of Public Policy at Harvard University
