Victoria Fimea (AZ 81)

Victoria E. Fimea is Senior Vice President, Legal Counsel and Head of Regulatory Department – North America, for Artex Risk Solutions, Inc.  She manages and leads the regulatory, claims, underwriting and captive formation departments and is a member of the senior management team.  Ms. Fimea is responsible for general corporate matters and regulatory relationships with regulators in the U.S. and Caribbean.  Her duties also include insurance defense and litigation, alternative dispute resolution, compliance and risk management, along with development of insurance policy coverage issues and terms.  Artex is one of the world’s largest alternative risk providers and is a subsidiary of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., an NYSE/Fortune 500 company with almost 30,000 employees worldwide.  In 2017, for the sixth consecutive year, Arthur J. Gallagher & Co. was named a world’s most ethical company by the Ethisphere Institute, a global leader in defining and advancing the standards of ethical business practices.

 

Prior to joining Artex, Ms. Fimea was Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the Sammons Financial Group (SFG), for which she managed all legal functions. The companies are subsidiaries of Sammons Enterprises, Inc., which is in the top 100 largest privately held companies in the United States listed by Forbe’s.  Prior to joining SFG, Ms. Fimea was Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the Dearborn National® brand companies, which are subsidiaries of Health Care Service Corporation of Chicago, Illinois. HCSC is the fourth largest health insurer in the United States, and the largest privately held health insurer in the United States. Prior to joining FDL, Ms. Fimea was Senior Counsel, Litigation, for the American Council of Life Insurers in Washington, D.C.  ACLI is the largest trade association in the U.S. representing the interests of the life insurance industry.

 

Ms. Fimea was the 1981 Harry S Truman Scholar for the State of Arizona, and, a 1983 Rhodes Scholar finalist for the State of Arizona.  Ms. Fimea received her J.D. from The American University, Washington College of Law, in Washington, D.C.  Ms. Fimea received her M.A. in Law and International Affairs emphasizing International Communications from The American University School of International Service in Washington, D.C., and, her B.S. from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, Arizona.
